Terms of Use

Last updated: September 30, 2026

These terms apply to your use of prodstories.com (the "site"). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Who we are

ProdStories is run by three individuals based in the United States: Serhii Zubkov, Yevhen Omelianenko, and Yuliia Svitlychna ("we", "us"). We also publish posts by guest authors, who are credited on each post they write. Guest authors are not responsible for running the site. You can reach us at hello@prodstories.com.

Reusing our content

We want people to reuse what we publish, so posts are openly licensed. This applies to posts by guest authors too: every guest author agrees to these licenses before we publish their work. Authors keep the copyright in their posts.

Text and images: CC BY 4.0

Unless a post says otherwise, the text of posts on the site and the original images in them are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). You may copy, share, translate, and adapt them for any purpose, including commercial use, as long as you:

  • credit the author named on the post and ProdStories
  • link to the original post
  • say whether you made changes

Example attribution: "Originally published by Jane Doe on ProdStories, licensed under CC BY 4.0."

Code: MIT License

Code snippets and code samples in posts are licensed under the MIT License, unless a post or the linked repository says otherwise. You can use them in your own projects, including commercial ones.

Code in a linked GitHub repository is licensed under that repository's license.

What the open licenses don't cover

  • The ProdStories name and logo. You may use them to refer to us, but not in a way that suggests we endorse you or your work.
  • Author photos and personal details.
  • Third-party material, such as screenshots of other products, quoted text, and images credited to someone else. These belong to their owners and are used under their own terms or as fair use.
  • Comments, which remain the property of the people who wrote them (see below).

Guest authors

If you write a guest post for ProdStories:

  • You keep the copyright in your post. By submitting it, you license it to us and to the public under CC BY 4.0 (text and original images) and the MIT License (code), as described above. You also grant us a non-exclusive right to publish, edit for clarity and style, promote, and keep it on the site.
  • You confirm that the post is your original work, that you have the right to publish everything in it (including screenshots, code, and material from your employer or clients), and that it doesn't disclose anyone's confidential information.
  • You must disclose any sponsorship, affiliate relationship, or financial interest in the products you write about.
  • We decide what to publish. We may decline, edit, or later remove any guest post.
  • Your byline can include your name, a short bio, a photo, and links you choose. You can ask us to update them or remove them at any time. The CC BY and MIT licenses already granted for your post can't be revoked, but we will remove your personal details if you ask.

Comments and other things you submit

If the site offers comments, a contact form, or other ways to submit content:

  • You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and moderate it on the site.
  • You are responsible for what you post. You confirm you have the right to post it.
  • Don't post anything that is illegal, harassing, hateful, defamatory, or spam. Don't post other people's personal data, malware, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
  • We may moderate. We may edit, hide, or remove any submission and block anyone who breaks these rules, at our discretion and without notice.

Acceptable use

When using the site, don't:

  • try to break, overload, or get unauthorized access to it
  • scrape it in a way that degrades its performance for other readers
  • use it for anything illegal

Reading the site with ordinary tools such as RSS readers, search engines, and archivers is fine.

How we use AI

We use AI tools when we write, for example to help with drafts, editing, code samples, and images. The projects, the bugs, the decisions, and the evidence in each post come from its author's real work, and AI can't produce those on its own. Every post is edited, checked against that experience, and published under the name of an author who is responsible for it. AI tools can make mistakes, and so can we. If you find an error, email hello@prodstories.com and we will fix it.

Not professional advice

Each post describes its author's own experience: what worked and what didn't work for them, in their projects, at the time they wrote it. They are provided for information only.

  • Code, commands, and configurations may contain mistakes, may be out of date, or may not fit your situation. Review and test them before you use them, especially in production.
  • Nothing on the site is legal, financial, security, or other professional advice.
  • The opinions in a post are its author's own. They don't represent any employer or client of the author. Opinions in a guest post don't necessarily represent ours.

Ads, affiliate links, and external links

The site may show ads (for example, through Google AdSense) and may link to other websites. We don't control third-party sites or ads, and we aren't responsible for their content, products, or privacy practices. A link or an ad is not an endorsement. If a post contains a paid or affiliate link, we will say so in that post.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranties, express or implied. This includes, to the fullest extent the law allows, any warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the site will be available, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes lost data, lost profits, and downtime, arising from your use of the site or its content, including any code you copied from it. We run the site for free. If we are found liable anyway, our total liability to you will not exceed US $100.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. Where that is the case, the limitations apply only to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights that you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your country.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email hello@prodstories.com with:

  1. the work you believe is infringed
  2. the URL of the material you want removed
  3. your contact details
  4. a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized
  5. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner
  6. your physical or electronic signature

We will review the notice and remove the material if appropriate.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New Mexico. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you can also bring a claim in the courts of your home country, and you keep the protection of its mandatory consumer laws.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.

General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a provision, that doesn't mean we waive it. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the site.
